Ralph GIbson's Sacred Land

Renowned photographer Ralph Gibson’s exhibition Sacred Land, photographed in 2019 as a first-time visitor to Israel brought up in the Catholic faith, expresses aspirations for a future of healing and peace. Gibson delves close-up into the spirit and soul of Israel, juxtaposing images of antiquity with the pulse of modernity. He captures the complex diversity of religions, ethnicities, and secular identities, while revealing the fundamental humanity and underlying affinities that offer a vision of empathy and mutual understanding.

The image on CAJM’s primary Traveling Exhibitions page, “Ikon-Motorcycle Girl,” manifests Gibson's unexpected juxtaposition of images across the centuries, religions, ethnicities, and secular identities, revealing underlying affinities that express a hopeful outlook of empathy and the possibility of a peaceful future.
